1. Materiaaloverzicht
ASTM A524 (ook aangeduid als A524/A524M-21 in de laatste revisie) definieert de standaardspecificatie voor naadloze koolstofarme (gedode) stalen buis, voornamelijk bedoeld voor gebruik bij atmosferische en lagere temperaturen, met nominale buismaten (NPS) van 1/8″ tot 26″ met wanddikte volgens ANSI B36.10
Het staal moet gedood staal zijn, geproduceerd via open-haard, elektrische oven of basische zuurstofprocessen. Het moet fijne korrelpraktijken volgen, worden gegoten als ingots of strenggegoten, en kan worden geleverd als warm afgewerkt of koudgetrokken afhankelijk van de maat

3. Opmerkelijke Grades
Hoewel deze specificatie twee grades omvat, zijn alleen Grades I en II gestandaardiseerd voor A524. Alternatieve lage-temperatuurbuizen—zoals ASTM A333—bestaan, maar zijn afzonderlijke standaarden (niet binnen A524 zelf)
